The Buck Institute
This research facility is the United States' first independent biomedical research institute devoted solely to research on aging and age-related disease. The mission of the Buck Institute is to extend the healthspan, the healthy years of life. The architect of this institute was I.M. Ping (also designed the Rock and Roll Hall of fame, In Cleveland, Ohio)
Now I wonder why this facility had to be built in this beautiful setting just outside of Novato, California. Why not use land which is so readily available in our cities which are screaming for new ventures to replace industries that long ago collapsed.

Hey, this is in my county. Did you go inside the Buck Institute. Worth a tour. Very interesting interior and photo opps if you're into that sort of stuff. Nice landscape.

indeed a beautiful setting for such an innovative research facility. i've read about this Institute somewhere so the name kinda rings a bell. why they chose this site must be part of their 'green' building project afterall, this research facility is committed to 'extending healthspan'.

This is a lovely pastoral landscape until the facility is spotted! :-) I agree with your statement. Too many times it's cheaper and simpler buy and build in a new place. Maybe less tax too. Nice post.

Beautiful, spanning shot of a wonderful landscape. I actually like stark modern pieces put in settings like this, so I think the Institute kind of looks cool!

The cows seem to be aging nicely. Maybe the Institute should study what they do right?
